The Restaurant Show returns for the 28th year in 2016 on 3rd – 5th October and promises to be the highlight of the hospitality industry’s calendar, with access to over 450 exhibitors across 4 shows with just one badge, and a whole host of new features and live events.
Exciting live line-up
High on the list of this year’s exciting new features is the Liquid Hub, the show’s purpose-built drinks destination. This is the place for learning about the latest on-trade trends, from artisan gins to UK-grown wines, a series of experts will inspire and inform in a range of intimate live sessions. The onstage events will explore everything from Sake to new wines from unusual climates, offering the opportunity to meet with key brands and receive tailored expert advice.
Other live events at this year’s The Restaurant Show promise to be equally special, with impressive industry names set to take to the stage, including Phil Vickery, Theo Randall and Nuno Mendes. Also not to be missed on the main stage is the chance to find out about the latest trends taking the industry by storm, with Simon Stenning, Director of leading strategic research consultancy, MCA Foodservice.
Culinary stars compete
Adding to the excitement, the show will see a new National Chef of the Year crowned, following the tense live final on Tuesday 4th October. There’s a chance to find out the industry’s future stars as well, with the announcement of the new Young National Chef of the Year.
Further culinary competitions taking place at the show include the Kikkoman Masters and the Compass Apprentice, Junior and Senior Chef of the Year. Plus, there will be the prestigious UK final of Sherry Wines’ Copa Jerez 2016, an international food and Sherry pairing competition in which chef and sommelier teams must design a three course sherry pairing menu.
Sustainability spotlight
Sustainability will be high on the agenda at this year’s event with the return of the Conscious Hospitality Show, a dedicated area for health, nutrition, ethical business practices and responsible sourcing. Key issues surrounding sustainability will also take centre stage with live events from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Up for discussion will be a range of topics such as making sustainability pay and the trend for a little less meat on the menu in-line with diners’ changing attitudes.
Fresh ideas and innovation
Running alongside The Restaurant Show will be the first ever The Bar & Pub Show, a brand new event that’s a must attend for anyone owning, managing and working in the UK’s bars and pubs. Also new this year is the Catering Equipment Expo, organised by Bunzl Lockhart Catering Equipment to showcase the very latest and best from the world of catering equipment.
