Deadline day for Microsoft’s unprecedented free upgrade offer for Windows 10 is fast approaching when the offer officially expires next week on July 29, 2016, one-year after the operating system’s initial release, writes GS Systems project manager Andrew Elliott.

With only a fortnight to go before the ends, we recommend hospitality operators and retailers upgrade as a priority to ensure they don’t have pay to download the operating system on 30 July 2016.
After that you’ll need to pay for it and it will cost £99 for Windows 10 Home users, or £189.99 for Windows 10 Pro.
New personal computers provided by GS Systems have Windows 10 operating system pre-installed.
However, there are existing customers who are still using Windows 7 (don’t worry you’re not alone: according to Netmarketshare Windows 10 is on around 19% of machines worldwide, languishing far behind Windows 7, which is on nearly 49% of PCs worldwide).

As Microsoft will support windows 10 longer than any older operating system, we suggest operators back-up existing information and data and upgrade their system to windows 10.
Upgrading is very simple and can easily be done online by following this link. The entire process should take approximately 90 minutes.
An upgrade takes around 90 minutes – preschedule for 6am for minimum disruption
Once you click on upgrade, you will be asked to schedule a time to carry out the upgrade. I would suggest setting to this to 6am as this will minimise the impact in your business.
Before you upgrade PLEASE make sure back-up all your data.
