The ALMR has launched its own manifesto at its Spring conference to encourage national and local governments to back the eating and drinking out sector.
Unveiled at yesterday’s 2017 Spring Conference, the manifesto highlights the contributions make the sector and outlines the support needed for pubs, restaurants and bars.
ALMR chief executive Kate Nicholls said: “The sector plays a vitally important role socially and economically and has been a fantastic provider of employment since the recession, creating one in seven of all new jobs. Pubs and restaurants are resilient and vibrant but face legislative and financial roadblocks that are preventing them from achieving even more. They need support from politicians if they are to invest and grow. The ALMR manifesto outlines the opportunities for policy-makers to support the sector and help support investment in businesses and communities in every region of the UK. This will be vital if we want to ensure the continued success of the sector and revitalise the country’s high streets. With the UK withdrawing from the European Union, it is essential businesses are in the best position to succeed. The ALMR has already liaised with the major political parties to champion the sector and the manifesto will be used extensively in the weeks leading up to the vote. This is a useful resource for communicating the great work the sector does and we look forward to sharing it.
