From 13 December all food service businesses will have to know the allergen content of all non-prepacked foodstuffs they sell, be able to inform a customer of the content and advertise the availability of such information. This obligation will apply through the whole food chain so, unless you are producing or importing foodstuffs yourself, your suppliers should be able to tell you the allergen content of all ingredients.
The ALMR has updated the guidance issued in May to incorporate the latest iteration of the FSA’s guidance. The ALMR has been pressing the FSA for clarification regarding the treatment of cask ales and it has assured us that this and similar issues will be addressed before implementation, and that enforcement agencies will be taking a light touch approach in the first months of the new regime.
