Commenting on the publication of a report published by the Mayor’s London Music Venues Taskforce, ALMR Chief Executive, Kate Nicholls said:

“This report raises important issues not just for grassroots music, but for all those involved in the vibrant night time economy. The report mirrors many of the issues we have been raising with the Mayor’s office through our work on the strategic LMR and its members contributed to the Task Force and we support its key recommendations.

“London is a world class city with iconic venues which not only generate jobs, growth and investment at the heart of local communities but also draw tourists in their millions. It is only right that London has a world class regulatory regime to help that economy survive and thrive – a night mayor would give us that holistic overview and will be particularly key in the run up to the introduction of the Night Tube.

“But our pubs, bars and nightclubs across the UK provide a fertile first step for musicians are also deserving of our support. That’s why we will be talking about this report not just with the Mayor’s office but with national and local politicians.”
