Manchester House picks up tourism award

The restaurants, hotels and attractions that make Manchester a fantastic place to visit were honoured at the annual Manchester Tourism Awards, writes the Manchester Evening News.  The five star Lowry Hotel – which has hosted a series of high profile stars over the past 12 months – took the coveted Hotel of the Year title, while GS Systems client and fine dining venue Manchester House, steered by celebrity chef Aiden Byrne, took the title of Restaurant of the Year. Meanwhile Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine had a second reason to celebrate this week after announcing the birth of her baby boy Albert at the weekend. For her restaurant Annies, that she co-owns with partner Chris Farr, claimed the People’s Choice Award for Best Tearooms, sponsored by the M.E.N.’s own Diary page and voted for by the public.
